Coleen Davis
Coleen Davis was born in the USA. She danced with Het Nationale Ballet from 1977-2000, where she became a prima ballerina. During her career she received many awards and since retiring she has been a highly-regarded member of various dance committees and boards. Coleen is married with three children.

Tim Persent

Tim Persent trained with the Rambert Ballet School in London and danced for many years with De Rotterdamse Dansgroep. He has also worked with Krisztina de Châtel, Paul Selwyn Norton, Samuel Würsten, Johan Greben, Ton Simons, Brenda Daniels, Michael Schumacher and Roland Shankula. He is a regular dancer with Leine & Roebana. In 1993, he was awarded the. Reciepent of 1993 Zilveren Theaterdansprijs en Golden Swan 2004.

John Appel

John Appel has been working as a freelance documentary maker and cameraman since he graduated from the Filmacademie in 1987. He has made over 30 documentaries, including 3 for the cinema. In 1999, he won the Joris Ivens Award, at the IDFA, for the film 'André Hazes/ Zij gelooft in mij'. Recently, he won the prize for best director, at the Infinity Film Festival in Italy, for the film 'The last victory' (in the cinema in August 2004).
He is a guest teacher at the Filmacademie and the Media-academie, an ex-adviser for Filmfonds and Stifo, and was a jury member for the Joris Ivens Competition at the IDFA 2000.

Mart Dominicus
Filmmaker (and director of the two dance films 'P' and 'BLINDSIDE BLOCK'), critic, and artistic adviser for the Nederlands Fonds voor de Film.

The speedy 'pas de deux' in Still You takes place at a long table. At each side there is a performer. Between them is a tea cup which acts as a catalyst. Film director Mijke de Jong has successfully exploited the playful and inventive aspects of the performance by Suzy Blok en Christopher Steel.
Still You won first prize in the category 'Best Production for Camera' in the IMZ Dance Screen Festival 1994.


Tus Ojos Negros

A film about memories, atmosphere and love, with a central role for the tango. Mely, a woman in her eighties, is standing in her room in front of a rack of dresses. She hears a long-forgotten song on the radio which awakens memories of her youth…
Up at Down
(Netherlands 2003) 26 min.
In 2002, Suzy Blok created the dance performance Looking Up at Down in collaboration with composer/musician Alexander Balanescu. The Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad declared it the hit of that year’s summer festival ‘Oerol’. Accompanied by live music on violin, cello and accordion, the performance is set in a locked room where the emotions of four enclosed people flare up high. Co-operating with director Clara van Gool, Blok made an adaptation of the piece for film.
