Winner CINEDANS Award
On Saturday the 5th of July, during the International Dancefilmfestival CINEDANS in Rialto in Amsterdam the CINEDANS Award 2008 was given to Gideon Obarzanek en Edwina Throsby for their film Dance Like Your Old Man (Australië). The film was chosen out of 280 entries.
The directors Obarzanek en Throsby win € 1000,-.

De jury
The jury has seen over 270 films of which they could only choose one film.
Henk van der Meulen head national broadcasting Dutch television quoted:
Dance like your old man is a successful film in which sometimes complex relationship between fathers and daughters. A touching film about where personal stories meets dance in a convincing way.
Each year the Cinedans Jury rewards the best short dance film with a prize of € 1,000.
With great care the jury members choose the winner from all the entered films in 2008. The films vary from short films to long films, from black and white to full colour films.
The jury anounced the SPECIAL MENTIONING to:
Downlove made by the greek filmmakers Euripidis Laskaridis, Aris Servetalis en Lina Sakka.
The jury was very pleased with the personal view and their comment on the vision of the world and the media.

Clara van Gool
As a filmmaker Clara van Gool developed her own cinematographic language through the use of Dance. Successful examples of her work are “ Reservaat” , “Biting & other Effects”, “Enter Achilles”, “ Nussin” en “ Between 2 Houses”. In 2006 Cinedans presented a retrospective of her works. Laurien Sarabier
Laurien
is project employee “ cultural diversity” at the “ Nederlands Fonds voor Podiumkunsten “. Bedsides thes she runs her own practise as publisher and researcher. The red line in this research are the artistic developments that come forth from the current cultural diversity
Henk van der Meulen
As a composer Henk van der Meulen composed music for concerts as well as for ballet, theatre and film. He was musical director of “ Stichting Dansproduktie and currently works as head of the dance and music departement for the “ NPS
Noud Heerkens
Noud Heerkens is filmmaker, curator, teacher and producer. In his work he researches the boundaries of the medium film and the cross over with other disciplines.
Joost van Krieken
Joost Krieken makes programs for our public TV channel and makes documentaries about art, music and dance. Besides this he creates commercials and for the last few years he made the portraits of the nominees of the “ Nederlandse Dansdagen”.
